Our History

The Austin Mandolin Orchestra was founded in 2004 by AMO director Joel Hobbs with an intrepid coterie of mandoliners. After a few months of rehearsing, we presented our first concert, The Austin Festival of Mandolins at the Helm Fine Arts Center in April 2005. Special guests at our inaugural concert included Paul Glasse and Radim Zenkl.
